Poquoson City Public Schools
Poquoson City Public Schools
Description
The Poquoson School Division anticipates a September 2009 enrollment of 2410 students, and like the city itself, is experiencing continuous growth. Each school within the system is accredited by the state of Virginia and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, a regional accrediting agency. The regular instructional program is complemented by special education for students with disabilities, talented and gifted programs, and vocational offerings on the middle and high school levels. A primary school houses grades K through 2, grades 3 through 5 comprise the elementary school, grades 6 through 8 comprise the middle school and Poquoson High School serves grades 9 through 12. This organizational pattern precludes the need for attendance zoning and contributes greatly to the pride and interest Poquoson residents take in their schools.
