Roane County is located in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains where three rivers converge, which provides some of the most beautiful scenery and abundant resources for fishing, hiking, camping and boating found anywhere in the country. The rural setting minimizes traffic issues while the location is close to the Knoxville area restaurant and shopping attractions. In addition, our close proximity to the Oak Ridge National Laboratories facilities has resulted in a large portion of the citizenry placing a premium on the support of a quality education. Subsequently, the Roane County Schools system has one of the highest teacher pay scales and quality benefit packages in the State. The system has an elementary, middle and high school in each of the five small communities that enhances local support and parental involvement. It is definitely an excellent place for an educator to work and live.
