Terms of Employment: 10 month employee - temporary if hired after contractual start date for teachers
Reports to: Building Principal
Salary: Current Teacher salary schedule
Minimum Qualifications:
- Meets certification requirements of the State of Delaware for Middle Level ELA.
- Certification requirements of the State of Delaware for Exceptional Children K-12 preferred
- Successful completion of Praxis II exam
- Teacher who is designated Highly Qualified in Middle Level ELA preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach ELA to students
- Able to work with students in an middle school level placement
- Works cooperatively with all staff and parents
- Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
- Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
- Strives to implement by instruction and action the district's mission statement.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
- With notice and consistent with employment commitments, is available to students and parents, within reason, for educational related purposes outside the instructional day
- Performs other duties as assigned
