Description

The Capital School District is located in the city of Dover, the capital of Delaware. The district serves the needs of students residing in Dover and the surrounding rural communities in Central Kent County. The Capital School District consists of seven elementary schools (grades K-4); two middle schools (grades 5-6 and 7-8) and one senior high school (grades 9-12). Capital School District operates the Kent County Community School whose function is to serve the needs of severely handicapped children throughout Kent County Delaware in a specialized setting. In addition, Capital oversees the Kent County Secondary Intensive Learning Center. The district offers a variety of educational opportunities to meet the high expectations of its residents.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Capital School District is to produce knowledgeable graduates, prepared with competitive skills, to become successful, responsible citizens in a global society. We will accomplish our mission by providing: - nurturing, safe, healthy, and inviting learning environments - state-of-the-art instructional programs - highly skilled, committed, and caring staff with high expectations for all students - partnerships with the community in meeting the needs of our diverse population
