Director, Secondary Programming


Job Title:Director, Secondary Programming
Reports To:Executive Director of Student Support Services
Classification:Administrative
Wage/Hour Status:Exempt

Salary:See Compensation Plan for Administrative/Professional Pay Plan, Pay Grade 109
Contract:Probationary/Term

Primary Purpose:Responsible for coordination of student support programming for secondary students.
Qualifications/Skills:

Education/Certification:

  • Master's degree in related field.
  • Valid Texas Certificate appropriate for position preferred.
  • Principal Certificate, preferred.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to organize complex projects and coordinate implementation over multiple campuses
  • Ability to organize complex projects and coordinate implementation over multiple campuses.
  • Highly effective in use of data systems and the analysis of data.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Highly effective training and facilitation skills.

Experience: 

  • Minimum five (5) years teaching experience preferred.
  • Campus or district leadership experience preferred.
Major Duties and
Responsibilities:

Program Management:

  • Coordinate the development of the annual middle school and high school course catalogs.
  • Collaborate with the Skyward team to ensure effective management of secondary course numbers.
  • Manage process for evaluating and approving new courses to the district.
  • Collaborate with the Skyward team and Registrars to ensure proper transcribing of credits, endorsements, performance acknowledgements and non-course graduation requirements.
  • Provide training and support to master schedule teams at all secondary campuses.
  • Lead high school registrar meetings and support their work.
  • Manage the non-traditional grading system.
  • Coordinate the annual development of high school campus profiles.
  • Provide annual training and monitoring of the Individual Graduation Committee process at each high school campus and the development of the Aspiring Graduates list.
  • Collaborate with the PEIMS department in providing training and support for district-wide dropout recovery efforts.
  • In partnership with the Executive Director for Student Support, coordinate district summer school programming.
  • Maintain the district NCAA Clearinghouse course list.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director of Student Support on additional district level projects and secondary campus supports.

Communication:

  • Maintain open communication with secondary campus leaders and department managers to ensure effective coordination of programs.
  • Monitor Texas Education Agency updates that impact curriculum, graduation requirements, and other rules effecting the operation of secondary campuses.
  • Provide updates to Academic Division Leadership on any change of TEA rules and legislation impacting secondary campuses
  • Develop and implement clear communication plans and timelines to ensure effective coordination of programs across all secondary campuses.
