The Role Responsibilities
You will work closely with both the classroom teacher and special education teacher to help implement individualized education programs (IEPs), providing academic, behavioral, and emotional support that meets the unique needs of each student. Your support will extend to students with disabilities in a variety of areas, which may include accessing the general education curriculum, assisting with toileting, feeding, mobility, or helping students use assistive technology. In addition to academic assistance, you will play an important role in promoting student independence, encouraging social development, and building self-confidence, all while maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment. Strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to remain calm and supportive under pressure are essential for success in this role. Your contribution is vital in helping to close learning gaps and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive—no matter their academic level or individual challenges.
Role Requirements
As the ideal candidate you will possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent. While an associate’s degree is preferred, it is not required to get started in this rewarding role. For those without an associate’s degree, you’ll have the opportunity to demonstrate your readiness through a standardized assessment that highlights your skills in reading, writing, math, and your ability to assist in classroom instruction. You will be required to demonstrate professionalism at all times with students, families, and other staff members. You will be asked to maintain student confidentiality in accordance with federal and state privacy laws. This is a great chance to begin or grow your career in education while making a meaningful impact every day.
