- Minimum ninth (9) grade education or equivalent preferred.
- Valid current Class “C” Texas driver’s license.
- Ability to safely operate lawn equipment associated with General Grounds and Athletic Grounds.
- Ability to work well with peers and managers.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish preferred.
- Ability to supervise a work crew and accomplish daily tasks in an acceptable manner.
- Excellent attendance record is required.
- Minimum one (1) year experience operating grounds equipment and large mowers.
- Minimum one (1) year experience working on athletic facilities.
Responsibilities: Grounds Management and Landscaping:
- Oversee workers at multiple locations throughout the district.
- Assist in prioritizing maintenance and repair of grounds mowing and trimming equipment.
- Create and maintain a schedule for maintenance of equipment.
- Communicate with coaches to ensure that the athletic field usage schedule is not interrupted by the required daily maintenance schedule.
- Adhere to all federal, state and municipal laws, regulations or codes and local board and departmental policies.
- Provide information and advice for updating of facilities during construction, making repairs or improving maintenance programs.
- Ensure crewmembers follow safety procedures and wear safety equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Create a weekly schedule for crewmembers to follow so that the athletic facilities assigned are kept in a safe, well-kept manner.
- Participate in appraisal process of assigned crewmembers.
- Work with supervisor to identify needs for the athletic facility assigned.
- Report any maintenance issues to the Athletic Administrative Assistant so that work orders may be created.
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Work with frequent interruptions.
- Overtime is required for events held at SBISD Athletic Facilities which include but aren’t limited to athletic events, athletic facility rentals, and graduations.
- This position requires regular in-person interaction with the public.
- Ability to perform extensive physical and repetitive activities, including but not limited to pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, carrying and the regular lifting of 105 pounds.
- Overtime is required.
- Work for continuous or extended periods of time.
- Exposure to sun, heat, cold, poor weather conditions and/or mechanical equipment noise.
- Exposure to chemicals (herbicides and fertilizer).
