Description
POSITION: Dance Teacher
Terms of Employment: 10 Month Employee - temporary for the school year if hired after contracted start date for teachers
REPORTS TO: Principal
Salary: Current Teacher salary schedule
Primary function: Teach and choreograph middle and middle school students with varying skill levels in multiple genres of dance including Ballet, Modern, Jazz, World Dance, Hip Hop
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instruct middle school students in multiple genres of dance including Ballet, Modern, Jazz, World Dance, Hip Hop
- Planning and delivering dance lesson plans
- Explain and demonstrate techniques and methods of regulating movements of the body to musical or rhythmic accompaniment
- Choreographing full dance routines to a high standard for beginner to advanced students
- Teach the history of dance
- Choreograph and direct dance performances
- Create safe and inclusive learning environment
- Facilitate guest artist workshops/master classes
- Establish and maintain open basis of communication with students, parents, staff and administration.
- Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day consistent with contract obligations.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Master of Fine Arts in Dance preferred
- Experience in dance education preferred
- DE educator license and certification or be able to obtain DE teaching credentials
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in teaching a variety of ages and skill levels in multiple genres of dance including Ballet, Modern, Jazz, World Dance, Hip Hop
- Demonstrated proficiency in choreography
- Understanding of practical forms of dance education
