Salary: $27.40 Per Hour

POSITION SUMMARY:  This position is responsible for assisting the grounds crew for the maintenance, repair, and upgrade of all District grounds, fields, and outdoor facilities and equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive.   • Mow, trim, and edge lawn and turf areas.
  • Maintain and prepare athletic fields including game preparation.
  • Weed and clean planting areas.
  • Renovate, repair, and upgrade turf areas for both sports and ornamental turf applications.
  • Maintain and install irrigation.
  • Install and repair fences and signs.
  • Inspect, repair, and install playground and athletic equipment.
  • Remove snow both by shovel and plow.
  • Load, unload, and safely transport equipment on trucks and trailers.
  • Operate all types of grounds equipment.
  • Work safely around children and adults; know and follow safety and health regulations and related District guidelines.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plan, organize, and prioritize the use of time and resources in an efficient and effective manner

  • Order, organize, and maintain required parts and supply inventories
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED
 
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Excellent safety record
 
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
Criminal background clearance
Valid Washington State driver’s license
Work scheduled hours on a consistent basis
Follow District procedures for reporting all absences
 
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Irrigation systems and installation
Operations and maintenance of mechanical equipment used in maintaining grounds
Safety regulations for equipment use

Demonstrate basic knowledge of modern technology and willingness and ability to increase knowledge to proficiency
Work independently and work collaboratively with others fostering a team approach providing excellent customer service
Maintain a good work attendance record, be punctual, and follow District procedures for reporting all absences.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will constantly sit, stand and walk, drive, stoop, bend neck and back, hold, use hands for repetitive grasping and gripping, and pushing/pulling. The employee is occasionally required to squat, kneel, and use hands for fine manipulation, climb stairs/ladder, lift and reach overhead. The employee is required to see, hear, speak, write and keyboard.  The employee must constantly lift/carry up to 10 lbs and must frequently lift/carry up to 35 lbs and occasionally lift/carry up to 50 lbs. The employee is occasionally required to push/pull a maximum force of 400 lbs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in indoor and outdoor conditions and may be exposed to inclement weather.  May be exposed to dangerous working conditions including but not limited to:  working at heights or in confined spaces; working around toxic chemicals and asbestos.  The work environment is usually moderate to high noise levels. Position requires visual and mental concentration on detail, and precision. There are extended periods of time reading from a computer monitor.  Some exposure to angry or frustrated or distraught individuals. The employee is required to travel to various locations.  Nights and weekends may be required occasionally to meet job demands.

This position typically works Monday – Friday, 8 hours per day

This position reports to, and is evaluated by Manager of Facilities Services
