Federal Way School District

Description

The city of Federal Way, a community of around 83,000 people, is a true melting pot of traditional and new American cultures. In addition, Federal Way schools’ service area overlaps portions of three other cities – Des Moines, Auburn and Kent – and areas of unincorporated King County. The total service area has a population of around 120,000, and makes Federal Way the seventh largest district in the state. Once considered a “bedroom community” suburb of Seattle to the north and Tacoma to the south, Federal Way is growing into its own as a community hub. The city takes pride in its natural features: over eight miles of Puget Sound waterfront, multiple lakes, and showcase views of the waterfront, the Olympic mountain range to the west and Mount Rainier to the east. City and state parks are numerous and cultural opportunities, including music, theater and art, are also plentiful. A growing immigrant population has contributed to a varied and tempting international dining scene, as well. The community’s proximity to our region’s hub cities, Seattle and Tacoma, and even Vancouver, British Columbia, provides easy access to world-class arts and sporting events. Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty to do, as well. Ski resorts are less than an hour’s drive from the city and water sports such as scuba diving, sea kayaking and river rafting are equally accessible. Federal Way is a great place to work, to play and to raise a family. Please consider joining us!
