Position Description
JOB TITLE: Bus Driver
DEPARTMENT: Transportation
REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation
SUMMARY: Drives bus to transport students on specified routes according to time schedule. Complies with traffic regulations. Punctual and regular attendance is an expectation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
- Drives a school bus safely and professionally
- Performs and properly completes daily pre-trip inspections
- Complies with all traffic ordinances
- Complies with discipline polices set forth by Greenwood School District 50
- Participates in on-site training
- Shows proficiency in handling and maneuvering school bus
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is needed.
- No more than 5 points on driving record
- Able to pass physical including drug test
- Satisfactory SLED background check
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is needed
- Obtain a Commercial Driver's License
- Pass State Skill Test and State Written Test
- Pass drug test and TB test
- Satisfactory SLED background check
- Satisfactory driving record
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Work in a friendly manner with co-workers and students
- Read and understand maps
- Communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form
- Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and peripheral vision.
While performing the duties of this job the employee:
- is continuously required to sit and occasionally required to walk or stand
- will frequently bend or twist at the neck and torso
- frequently repeats the same hand, arm or finger motion many times
- frequently uses hand strength to grasp tools
- is continuously driving on the job
- must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds such as students
- must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints
- must interact professionally with public and other workers
- has direct responsibility for the safety and well-being of others
- will work in an environment that is frequently loud to where you have to raise your voice to be heard
