Description

Independent School District 535 is located in Rochester, Minnesota, a growing city of 89,000 residents in the southeastern portion of the state. The city’s sustained growth has been supported by the ongoing expansions of the Mayo Clinic, IBM Corporation, and many other high-tech and supporting businesses. The Rochester Public Schools has the sixth largest enrollment in the state. The District covers a large part of Olmsted County and extends into Wabasha County. It draws from a District population of more than 100,000 people. The District’s pre-kindergarten through grade 12 program serves more than 16,013 students in 16 elementary schools, four middle schools, and three comprehensive high schools. We have various alternative schools and five choice programs throughout the District.

Mission Statement

Lifelong Learning for All. The educational program of the Rochester Public Schools is designed to reach all students, including those with special needs. The three strategic aims of the District are High Student Achievement; Safe and Welcoming Learning Environment; and Efficient and Effective Operations. All goals, whether individual or building, must support these three aims, and every site is expected to have a Site Improvement Plan. Student achievement levels are consistently above state and national averages with more than 85 percent of graduating seniors pursuing post high school education.
