Description

BEHAVIORAL SPECIALIST (HOTL)

POSITION: Behavioral Specialist 
GRADE LEVEL: Grades K-4
SITE: Heart of the Lakes Elementary
BEGINNING: 2025-2026 School Year

Perham Public School District is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate ADSIS Behavior Specialist to join our team at Heart of the Lakes Elementary School. This Behavioral Specialist will work in conjunction with another behavior interventionist and coordinate a Tier 1 Intervention classroom. The Behavioral Specialist will play a crucial role in helping classroom teachers manage and address challenging student behaviors, ensuring that teachers are equipped to create positive learning environments that support all students. This role involves working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and support staff to create a positive and supporting learning environment for students.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1) Work with students in one-on-one or small group settings
2) Conduct Behavior Assessments / Develop and Implement Behavior Plans
3) Provide Professional Development and Coaching 
4) Train Teachers in evidence-based behavior management strategies
5) Collaborate on Classroom strategies
6) Support emotional regulation
7) Assist with crisis management
8) Monitor and evaluate progress
9) Strengthen teacher-student relationships
10) Advocate for teacher well-being
11) Data collection for ADSIS reporting

QUALIFICATIONS:

1) Bachelor's Degree (minimum) in one of the following fields:

  • Special Education
  • Social Work / Counseling / Other mental health related degrees
  • K-6 Elementary Education
2) Knowledge of Classroom Management and best practice to help foster support of academic/student success
3) Technology skills that support the demands of 21st century learners
