Position Description:
Summer School Age Care positions are available for Team Leads and Program Assistants to work with students in grades k-5. Team Leads are responsible for the development of a simulating and developmentally appropriate environment for children specific to an assigned grade level. Required weekly activity plans are designed to promote social growth, enhances self-esteem, provide for mastery of tasks and develop self-reliance in a child. The Team Lead is responsible for creating the environment for a summer care classroom, inclusive of meeting quality care standards, creating daily routines, and planning weekly activity centers for art, sensory, dramatic play, technology, maker-space, literacy, science, writing, puzzles & games, music and movement. Interest Centers will be inclusive and challenging for a specific grade level that results in a quality, engaging experiences. The Team Lead is responsible for communications between parents and the program for children assigned to their care. Direct contact with children is the primary component of this assignment. Program Assistants are assigned to a specific age group with the priority tasks of supporting and prepping weekly activity plans, provide direct care and contact with children. All Summer SAC staff members have responsibility for observing, responding to and/or redirecting student behaviors as presented to them. All Summer SAC staff members will work collaboratively to support the development of quality spaces and activities.
Position Requirements:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). A BA/BS in child development, early childhood/elementary education, secondary education, recreation, social services or related field is preferred. Proficiency in the English language. Read, write, and comprehend instructions, short correspondences, memos and have strong technology skills. Mobility and ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Hearing, speech and sight are required. Positions require a current first aid and CPR certificate, or willingness to obtain within an agreed upon timeframe of employment. Team Leaders must also complete Blood Borne Pathogens training. Successful work experience with children and program development/planning in a large group, center-based setting required. Successful candidates must be available fulltime June 9 - August 19, 2025 with a maximum of 3 non-paid days off. Consistent and reliable attendance is required. A high-degree of flexibility is needed to fully meet the needs of students participating in the summer program.
Other Skills & Abilities:
Ability to build quality relationships with children, their families, site staff and program leadership. Provide leadership for creating and/or choosing developmentally appropriate activities for students, as well as ability to demonstrate child guidance strategies appropriate in the School Age Care setting. Maintain cooperative staff partnerships, display flexibility in day-to-day situations and contribute to a positive team environment. Maintain the confidentiality of all information regarding students. Perform duties within a structured daily schedule and with an awareness of all program standard operating practices, district requirements and Board of Education policies.
Hours/Schedule:
8 hours student contact per day, plus a .5 hr. duty-free lunch / 5 days per week between the hours of 6:30 am and 5:30 pm. Staff rotate in and out of the care site based on student attendance patterns. Work assignment will be pre-set with each staff member prior to children arriving on June 16th. The week of June 9-13 will be 8:00-4:30 assignments. Assignments will be modified for weeks when duty-free lunches cannot be scheduled, off-site trips conflict with an assignment, or student attendance creates the need for different scheduling.
Two Assigned Days Off: June 19 and July 4
Pay Rate:
Team Lead Positions: B-2-1 / $17.57 - $21.15 per hour
Program Assistant Positions: A-1-3 / $16.32 - $19.69 per hour
