The District Burnsville-Eagan-Savage has earned a national reputation for excellence. The book, Going to Work: A Unique Guided Tour Through Corporate America,distinguished us as one of the Twin Cities’ best public school systems. For the eighth consecutive year, SchoolMatch, an educational consulting and research firm, recognized us for meeting the needs of families with its renowned What Parents Want Award. Only 15 percent of school districts nationwide achieved this honor. Expansion Management magazine recently heralded Burnsville-Eagan-Savage as a Gold Medal school district in its “Education Quotient” feature. The Gold Medal designation ranks our district among the nation’s top performers. More than 1,500 school districts across the country were evaluated on the basis of how well students learn and how many stay through graduation, the community’s financial commitment to education and the community’s adult education and income levels. Enrollment currently stands at 11,100 students. They reside in the communities of Burnsville, Eagan, Savage, Apple Valley and Shakopee, and are served at 10 elementary schools, three junior high schools, a traditional senior high school and an alternative high school program. School District 191 encompasses 37 square miles of wooded countryside and rolling hills within Dakota and Scott counties, among the fastest growing counties in the state. Located along the southern bank of the Minnesota River, this third-tier suburban district is home to more than 62,650 residents. The District lies almost equal distance (approximately 15 miles south) from the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, and serves as the southern anchor of a metropolitan area of more than 2.5 million people. We believe our educational system should be built around an equal partnership of students, educators, families, and communities. The primary goal is to meet the needs of all learners by creating and implementing strategies that promoting a better understanding and acceptance of diverse learning styles. The educational outcomes of all learners will be enhanced. Students will develop a sense of belonging and being valued through their journey of learning.
