Description

Beliefs We believe that every child, regardless of the nature of his or her disability, can learn. We believe that every child in the State of Tennessee is entitled to the highest quality education possible, including children with a visual impairment. Our School’s Vision Because we believe that every child is a person of worth, with the right to receive assistance in reaching his or her potential, the programs at TSB use diversified curricula and are designed to address the educational and social needs of all our students whose abilities may range from academically gifted to multiply challenged. Our programs provide students who are blind or visually impaired with the special skills, techniques, and methods they need to function well in society. Our staff is dedicated to providing the most up-to-date technology and services possible. Our instructional staff, including classroom and special area teachers, residential staff, support staff, and outreach staff, are dedicated to implementing this philosophy by creating a totally individualized program for each child. Our vision is for each child to succeed.

Mission Statement

The mission of the staff at the Tennessee School for the Blind is to provide free, appropriate, and individualized educational services to eligible students in a safe environment that will promote independence and a positive self-image, as well as provide information and technical assistance to families, schools, and agencies serving all Tennessee children who are visually challenged.
