Description

McIntosh is a small rural district 90 miles south of Bismarck, 150 east of Rapid City, 150 miles north of Pierre. The main industry is agriculture, and the area supports many types of hunting. The town has 200 friendly residents. The school system has a 55/45 White/Native population. There are 180 students and 50 staff members. It consistently makes AYP, has been deemed a South Dakota Distinguished School, and was featured in the U.S. News and World Report America's Greatest High School (smallest enrollment)article

The mission of McIntosh Public School District 15-1 is to provide students with the skills and exploratory experiences that enable them to reach their fullest potential as independent thinkers. By providing a diversified curriculum and a school environment that foster civic mindedness, self-esteem and respect for individual differences, we seek to address the unique needs of our students in a changing society.
