Description
Tukwila, a community of 17,110, welcomes diversity. Incorporated in1908, the city offers a blend of businesses, churches, parks, and abundant single and multi-family housing available to all income levels in an attractive, urban atmosphere. Our students will inspire you. More than 2,640 are enrolled in five schools located within the limits of historic Tukwila. The teacher-student ratio averages 1:25. Students represent many cultures and ethnic groups and speak approximately 30 world languages. Twenty-nine (29) percent of students qualify for English Language Learner services. Seventy one (71) percent of students are eligible for free/reduced school meals. A certified staff of 182, classified staff 122, and an administrative team of 20 full/part time employees serve the district. As of November 2005, the district has 16 National Board certified teachers.
