With 3,600 Students, the district operates six schools. In recent years, the district has engaged in a comprehensive facility program which has provided the community’s students and staff with some of Washington’s most modern educational sites. Grandview is a diverse district serving a population which is about 84% Hispanic and 15% Caucasian. Other races makeup less than one percent. A growing number of Hispanic students come from families who have “settled-out,” however, the district maintains a federally-funded migrant education program serving about 1,060 students. The Grandview School District employs over 400 people including approximately 200 teachers and more than 200 support staff members. The annual budget is in excess of $33 million. Grandview offers many specialized programs. Dual language classes for grades K-7 are provided in all of our elementary buildings and middle school, as well as full day Kindergarten. College readiness and college preparation programs are offered at the High School/Middle School level with Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID), Advance Placement course, College in the Classroom, Navigation 101 and the STEM initiative Project Lead the Way (PLTW) at both the middle and high school level. A federal GEAR-UP grant is administered through our partner the University of Washington and is at both the middle and high schools. Grandview High School has been recognized by OSPI and the US Dept. of Education as one of the 69 “Reward” schools for High Progress for increasing reading/math and graduation rates for 2013-14. The Yakima Valley and the City of Grandview is located in the center of the Washington winemaking area. There are over 80 wineries located in the Yakima Valley and numerous vineyards that support the industry. Grandview offers many amenities as do other local communities. The Yakima area, home to more than 100,000 residents and the Tri-Cities, area with 200,000 are approximately 40 miles from Grandview.

We believe that all students can graduate with the ability to be successful in college, work, and life. We will achieve this by continually improving instructional practices in every classroom and in every building in the District. In order to achieve this goal we, the Grandview School District, are committed to focus on teaching and learning as our top priority. We will work collaboratively, by sharing our classrooms on a regular basis for learning opportunities, giving and receiving feedback, coaching, and participating in quality professional adult learning experiences so we develop our own skills as instructional leaders across the district. We believe it is absolutely necessary to authentically engage students in rigorous, relevant, and appropriate instruction focused on enduring knowledge.
