Coupeville School District

Description

Our enrollment this school year is at 1,087 FTE (full time equivalent) students. Class sizes at the elementary school typically are 24 or fewer students. At middle and high school (grades 6-12), class sizes vary, but usually are 28 or fewer students. Our rural community includes several county and state parks, as well as the Ebey's Landing National Historic Reserve. Population centers include Coupeville, the county seat for Island County, and Greenbank. Residential developments in the county alternate with multiple-acre homesites, farms, prairies, and forested areas. The Town of Coupeville has a healthy business and arts community. Fast food, movie theaters, and other entertainment options are in nearby Oak Harbor, about 15 minutes from Coupeville. Island Transit provides convenient transportation at no charge to riders. Major shopping malls are about an hour away, and Seattle can be reached in about 90 minutes. Every aspect of our community benefits immensely from the work done by volunteers of all ages. We encourage service learning for our student as part of our character education curriculum, and we welcome volunteers in our schools.
