Description

The Petersburg Public Schools is a K-12 Public School District with 4 elementary schools, 1 middle school,1 high school, 1 alternative school and an Early Childhood Education Center with an approximate enrollment of 4557. We are located in south central Virginia, approximately 20 miles south of the capital, Richmond.

Mission Statement

The mission of Petersburg Public Schools is to meet the education needs of all students to acquire the skills, knowledge, and attitude to enable them to live, learn, and work in a global society. Parents, citizens, and students will share in the development of academic programs that will enable the schools to serve as a focal point of the community. These programs will involve the entire community in a manner which draws strength from its diversity, fosters mutual respect and improves our society. The schools and the community will work together in educating students to become lifelong learners prepared to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
