Description

The School District of Greenville County is the largest public school system in South Carolina and the 47th largest school systems in the nation. Each day the district challenges and inspires more than71,000 young people in grades K-12 to meet the demand of the future. Most recently, SDGC was awarded 13National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence, 21 Palmetto’s Finest (State’s Top Schools), 48 Red Carpet Schools, and has the largest PTA Membership in the state. We offer magnet academies of accelerated learning, a comprehensive K-12 International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculums, after school enrichment opportunities, middle school initiatives, alternative school programs, and an early childhood education program which has been nationally recognized. 86% of graduating students attend college. Honored to have 27 National Merit Scholarship Semi-finalists in 2012-2013, our students scored higher that their national peers on nine Advanced Placement exams as well as outscoring the state and the national averages on the ACT College Entrance Test. Greenville County students also outscored their peers in South Carolina on the SAT (College Entrance Test). Greenville County Schools completed a $933 million building program which provides “equal” school facilities for all students across the 800 square-mile school system. The average age of schools is 10 years.
