Galax City Public Schools

The Galax City Public School Division is located in Galax, Virginia. The City of Galax is located on the boundary between Carroll and Grayson Counties in Southwest Virginia. Galax is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains about 82 miles southwest of Roanoke, Virginia and 68 miles northwest of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The city is approximately 7 square miles in area. Three schools comprise the Galax City Public School Division: Galax Elementary School (PK-4), Galax Middle School (5-7), and Galax High School (8-12). There are approximately 1350 students enrolled in the division. All schools are fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

The Galax City Public School Division is a community of learners. The division's mission is to promote lifelong learning, responsible citizenship, and respect for a diverse global society within a safe and orderly environment.
