Description

Dickenson County has a lot to offer from the scenic beauty of the Appalachian Mountains and Breaks Interstate Park, to the fun and relaxation of the John Flannagan Lake, and thriving industry. The Dickenson County School System provides quality education for grades K-12. Programs for the gifted and talented are available for all ages, interests and ability levels. Special education programs are also provided. The Dickenson County School System is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges. It offers programs for gifted students and programs in special education for handicapped students. The school system operates three high schools, five elementary school, and a vocational school.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Dickenson County Public Schools is to equip our students with the necessary and fundamental learning skills needed to become lifelong learners, thus preparing each student for post-secondary learning in higher institutions and/or labor market. The Dickenson County Public Schools will foster a learning environment which stimulates intellectual curiosity, develops positive personal qualities, promotes respect for individual differences, encourages parental involvement and emphasizes high expectations for student achievement and behavior.
