Northwestern School Corporation

One of the first Indiana school consolidations since 1949, Northwestern School Corporation has served as the community center for Clay, Ervin, and Howard Townships in Howard County, Indiana. The three townships are located north and west of the city of Kokomo in central Indiana, approximately 50 miles north of Indianapolis. While the townships are primarily rural, a suburban component is found in the school corporation as well as several subdivisions are located in the three townships. Northwestern School Corporation serves as the educational provider for over 1800 students in grades K-12, housed in two elementary buildings, one middle school, and one high school. It should be noted that in the past five years, over 500 students have matriculated into the school corporation as “transfers in,” which is a testament to the strengths of the educational programs, staff, and community values. The Northwestern community, staff, and students take pride in their schools and value the educational and extra-curricular opportunities available.
