Description

Position:  Speech Language Pathologist, Part-time, FTE 0.6 (Primary responsibility in Preschool)

Location:  Lincoln Elementary School

Starting Date:  August 15, 2025 

Salary/Benefits:  BA, Step 1, $50,009 to MA+60, Step 25, 118,928. (Additional compensation may be available for stipend opportunities.) TRS Pension and sick leave. If selected, other benefits include medical, dental and life insurance, HSA, Roth, 403b and 457 investment options, flex spending, etc.

Qualifications: 

     a) Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with Grade-Appropriate SLPathologist Endorsement

     b) Successful experience as a school-based Speech/Language Pathologist is preferred.

     c) A Master’s Degree is required.

Job Duties: Speech/Language Pathologist provides direct service to students with identified speech and language needs. Services include screening, evaluation, identification, treatment, and ongoing progress monitoring for students with communication challenges.  The Speech/Language Pathologist develops Individualized Education Plans or contributes to team IEPs for students receiving speech/language therapy services and implements therapy sessions that target IEP goals.  The Speech/Language Pathologist functions as a positive member of the District’s Student Services Team and fulfills all of the requirements of the role as stated in Rules and Regulations for Special Education.  The Speech/Language Pathologist collaborates with general education teachers and the Student Services Team to support students through both the IEP process and MTSS – Multi-Tiered Systems of Support.

The Speech/Language Pathologist collaborates with teachers, aides and other service providers around use of AAC devices as needed.  The Speech/Language Pathologist recommends adaptations for students’ learning environments as necessary, as well as provides consultation to teachers and staff to ensure the integration of speech/language development techniques into the student’s classroom learning activities and school routines.  The Speech/Language Pathologist helps students develop agency in building skills through practice at home and school, while also working closely with families around strategies to use at home.  The Speech/Language Pathologist maintains strong communication with parents and guardians.   The Speech/Language Pathologist integrates D90 practices around equity and inclusivity into daily work and relationships with students, families, and colleagues.  They also attend to other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education, Building Principal, or Superintendent.
