Description

Description:  School Nurse at Highland Elementary 

Applicant must be willing to:

  • Serve as a liaison and resource to the students, faculty and community on health related issues.
  • Implement the health regulations, policies and procedures of the school district, Department of Public Health and Department of Education.
  • Review student immunization records prior to admission to school.
  • Develop and implement individual nursing care plans for students.
  • Excuse pupils from required physical education classes with medical or parental permission.
  • Prepare a confidential list of students with medical concerns at the beginning of each academic year and updates it as needed and shares this with appropriate school personnel.
  • Administer prescribed medication to students according to policy
  • Perform skilled nursing procedures in a safe, competent and effective manner.
  • Participate in and presents findings, nursing guide lines and recommendations at team meetings.
  • Instruct students in healthy lifestyles and first aid.
  • Provide resources to students, family and faculty for school safety and environmental health issues.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
  • Travel between buildings required and support in other buildings may be needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and licensed as a registered nurse in Illinois; Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with School Nurse endorsement (preferred) 

Salary:
Based on HEA contract.
