Welcome to The School District of Indian River County! Our District is the largest employer in the county, with approximately 1,100 teachers on our exciting educational team and approximately 960 support personnel employed throughout Indian River County. Our school district is a "A" rated school district. The majority of our schools achieved a grade of “A” or “B” under Florida 's A+ Plan. We're very proud of our 13 elementary, 4 middle, and 2 high schools that serve over 17,000 students. We also have 3 special schools in our county: the Center for Alternative Education, the Adult Education Center, and the Wabasso Exceptional School. With a quality of life unique even to Florida, Indian River County is where lifestyle and work style unite to create a highly productive and profitable environment. Centrally located 75 miles south of the Kennedy Space Center and 135 miles north of Miami, our 543 square miles contain beautiful beaches, immaculate ocean and river front communities and endless groves of renowned Indian River oranges and grapefruit.
