At Burlington School District RE-6J, we are committed to our students attaining strong academic success and preparing our students to become Post-Secondary/Career Ready upon graduation of Burlington High School. We believe in supporting the whole student through academics, extra-curricular activities and community support. At Burlington Schools we will be sure to “Do the Right Thing” to ensure our students attain excellence, growth and are prepared to meet the rigorous demands of a global society seen in this Twenty-First Century. In order to accomplish these high demands of our students Burlington School District will provide a challenging curriculum, taught by highly skilled instructors, and provide a learning environment that responds to an individual’s academic needs. We believe in collaboration and shared leadership among our dedicated staff, supported by an innovative school administration and a devoted board of education, in conjunction with a supportive community. We are the “Burlington Cougars” Burlington School District RE-6J encompasses the eastern end of Kit Carson County and part of southeastern Yuma County. The district provides educational opportunities to approximately 832 students PK-12. Burlington High School has 225 students in grades 9-12. Burlington Middle School enrolls 242 students in grades 5-8. Burlington Elementary School has facilities for 365 students in grades PK-4. The district's ethnic breakdown is 56% Anglo, 42% Hispanic, and 2% other. ESL classes are offered at all grade levels.

The Burlington School District shall strive to provide a safe environment, meaningful opportunities and innovative educational programs for all students so that they reach their learning potential, including that they meet or exceed state and district content standards, through partnerships between home, school, and the community.
