Fresno Unified School District

Description

Fresno Unified School District is located in the heart of California. It is the fourth largest unified school district in California with 106 schools and 73,000 students. The student population is diverse, with approximately 100 languages and dialects spoken. ?Because of the district's size and varied student population, there are countless unique opportunities to contribute significantly to the community. Each school's accountability report card lists a number of business and community partnerships; the ways in which they are involved range from raising money, to tutoring and mentoring, to coaching mock trial teams. Much of Fresno Unified's guiding philosophies are based on the "Choosing Our Future" task force report, which was put together by a collection of Fresno citizens. FUSD schools consistently receive Title I Academic Achievement Awards, National NCLB Blue Ribbon School Awards, and California Distinguished Schools. Newsweek named Edison High School one of the top 1,000 high schools in the nation. The district is committed to ensuring that each student is academically prepared to succeed at the highest levels. Preparing our students for success is made possible through the district's commitment of attracting, hiring and retaining the highest quality employees. Fresno Unified provides outstanding service in a professional, caring and consistent manner. FUSD is a place where staff members feel valued, grow professionally and work collaboratively to accelerate the learning for each student. ?Fresno itself offers an authentic, easy-going lifestyle, that contributes to an academically successful environment. Located an almost equal distance to both Los Angeles and San Francisco, Fresno has seen a growth not only of population, but also of civic pride and enriching cultural opportunities. Save Mart Center at California State University, Fresno, has played host to world-class acts such as Andrea Boccelli, Madonna and Cirque Du Soleil. Multiple theater groups contribute to Fresno's thriving theater and entertainment scene. Chukchansi Stadium is home to both the Fresno Grizzlies, AAA feeder team for World Series Champions the San Francisco Giants, and soccer team the Fresno Fuego. Hockey team the Fresno Monsters takes the ice at Selland Arena. Art lovers can be found roaming Fresno on the first and third Thursdays of each month for ArtHop, a free art exhibition featuring over 80 participating galleries and museums. Local flavor can be tasted at one of our many farmers markets, or by visiting area wineries. And local music can be heard nightly at venues throughout the city, and at many of the city's cultural events and festivals. Fresno Unified School District is proud to set the standard for academic achievement in the ever-growing Central Valley. Fresno Unified welcomes you to join the team.???
