Description
Network/Technology Supervisor
Purpose Statement
The job of Network/Technology Supervisor is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the educational
process with specific responsibilities for developing, planning, and managing all aspects of information
technology, including telephone systems, use and services, providing information and serving as a resource
to others; and achieving defined objectives by planning, evaluating, developing, implementing and
maintaining services in compliance with established guidelines.
This job reports to Assigned Administrator
Essential FunctionsCollaborates with internal and external personnel (e.g. other administrators, departments, District
personnel, etc.) for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and programs.
Coordinates maintenance and development of district wide and local area networks for the purpose of
ensuring the availability of appropriate technological resources for students and staff.
Designs technical instructions for the purpose of training personnel in the use of computer applications.
Develops liaisons with business sources for the purpose of ensuring plans for the acquisition of new
technology by recommending funding, hardware, software.
Directs department operations; the maintenance of services and the implementation of new programs
and processes for the purpose of providing services within established time-frames and in compliance
with related requirements.
Investigates grant opportunities for the purpose of developing instructional staff resources.
Manages the development and operation of the district wide area and local area networks for the
purpose of ensuring the efficient growth and development of productivity computing for teachers,
classified/support staff, district administrators.
Managing a variety of IT processes as assigned (e.g. student account creation, new staff hire, hardware
refresh cycles, student device management, endpoint configuration, wireless systems, device
deployment, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that district processes are maintained in an effective and
timely maner.
Participates in a variety of meetings (e.g. workshops, inter and intra district committees, etc.) for the
purpose of conveying and gathering information regarding a wide variety of subjects required to carry out
administrative responsibilities.
Performs a variety of Network IT processes for the District (e.g. automation processes, repair,
installation, orientation, etc.) for the purpose of designing, developing and maintaining an efficient,
unified and fully integrated technology system.
Prepares documentation (e.g. network software (including licensing), hardware, etc.) for the purpose of
maintaining effective and efficient operation.
Presents information on a variety of topics related to network technology (e.g. financial information,
overviews of programs/services, policies and procedures, etc.) for the purpose of providing general
information, implementing action, budgeting recommendations.
Provides leadership (e.g. design, implementation and maintenance, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring
efficient and integrated technology systems supporting the District Technology plan.
Researches topics related to current and emerging technology (e.g. relevant policies, current practices,
staffing requirements, financial resources, etc.) for the purpose of developing new programs/services,
ensuring program compliance with established requirements, securing general information and
responding to requests.
Responds to issues involving network IT operation for the purpose of implementing a plan of action that
will efficiently resolve the issue.
Serves as liaison to software/hardware providers for the purpose of conveying and receiving information
and coordinating district technical processes.
Other Functions
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective
functioning of the work unit.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet
changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job
include: hardware/software technology management management software, operating standard office equipment
including utilizing pertinent software applications; planning and managing projects and programs; monitoring program
financial activities; developing effective working relationships; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of
documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: endpoint
configuration, IT systems management software, pertinent laws, codes, policies, and/or regulations; personnel
processes; standard business practices; current generation and emerging programming languages; and networking
technologies and operating systems.
ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; often gather, collate, and/or classify
data; and consider a variety of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others
in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment
using a variety of processes. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups;
work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize a variety of types of job-related equipment. Problem
solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires
independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate to significant. Specific
ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: establishing and
maintaining effective working relationships; meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; working with multiple
projects and departments, frequent interruptions, and changing work priorities; working with detailed information/data
and maintaining accurate records; maintaining confidentiality; and facilitating communication between persons with
frequently divergent positions.
Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve unit objectives;
directing other persons within a small work unit; monitoring budget expenditures. Utilization of resources from other
work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to impact the

Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands:
occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, some stooping, kneeling,
crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking,
20% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free
environment.
Experience: Job related experience within a specialized field is required.
Education: Bachelors degree in job-related area.
Equivalency: Successful administrative/managerial experience for a minimum of three years.
