Wrangell Public School District

Description

The Wrangell Public School District serves approximately 310 students in three school facilities in the heart of the community. Evergreen Elementary is surrounded by the beauty of Southeast Alaska. They have 124 students with an average class size of fourteen. Students are encouraged to “excel to their potential” on a daily basis through academic and recreational pursuits. All daily activities and special events at the school are successful because of staff, family and community volunteers that support each child in their community. Also located in picturesque Southeastern Alaska, Stikine Middle School is the home of the cougars and Wrangell High School is the home of the wolves. Both schools host an array of highly qualified teachers offering courses in a variety of academic and elective areas. The curriculum is designed so that students can challenge themselves on a daily basis in an effort to prepare them for the rigors of life. These schools are a part of a dynamic and giving community that knows they must all work together to ensure the success of their youth. Wrangell High School offers many tech prep and career oriented courses for both high school and college credit. Approximately 40 college credits are available through a wide variety of courses. This provides students with a significant head start on their college and/or vocational education and saves parents upwards of thousands of dollars in tuition and college expenses.
