Talladega County Schools

Talladega County Schools, known for an innovative and creative instructional program, utilize current research to design effective and challenging programs for every student. Work for students is carefully designed to ensure high standards and quality of performance. A major emphasis is placed on reading instruction in the elementary grades with a goal of having every student reading on or above grade level. Units of instruction are planned to address all content areas at the elementary grades where thematic units are often utilized to integrate study across the curriculum. At the secondary level, instruction is characterized by course work designed to meet the rigorous requirements outlined by the Alabama High School Graduation Exam. Distance Learning Labs support instruction by increasing the availability of advanced courses and foreign language in all high schools. J.R. Pittard School of Technology offers excellent opportunities for students to gain valuable career/technical skills needed for future employment, and dual enrollment is offered for students desiring to earn college credit through area institutions of higher learning. All schools are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Our school system has one core purpose that guides all that we do – "To educate students and to foster respect for others." We feel that if we educate the students in our charge, we give them the tools to be successful as adults. However, they need more than skills and knowledge. In order to be successful in life, one must learn to respect life, oneself, others, authority, rules, the belongings of others, and many more things. In providing our students with an education and a respect for others, we are preparing them for success in school as well as in life.
