Description

The Seminole Public School system has more students than any other district in Seminole County. The district enrolls students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12 and encompasses approximately 19.2 square miles. Several smaller districts surround Seminole’s district, touching and sometimes crossing into the city limits. Seminole Schools conducts classes on six sites. Site names, grade configurations, and current enrollment figures are shown below for each: Seminole Schools employs outstanding staff, both certified and non-certified, with the average student/teacher ration being 15:1 Seminole Schools has a long and storied tradition of excellence. In every area of academics and in co-curricular activities Seminole teams and individuals are champions. Seminole High School has produced more academic all staters than any public 3A institution in the state. Seminole Speech and Debate teams have consistently won state championships for decades. In the athletic realm, Seminole teams have won state championships in football, basketball, softball, track, tennis, golf, and weightlifting and continue that tradition of excellence daily.

Mission Statement

The mission/purpose of Seminole Public Schools is to help all students develop their capacities to the highest degree possible, to the end that each may become an effective member of society. This means that the schools are responsible for assisting children, youth, and adults in finding their place in the world’s work, in achieving those attitudes, understandings, and skills essential to the discharge of their responsibilities as citizens, members of homes, producers, and consumers; and in developing those values which promote the physical, mental, and moral welfare of all. The attainment of these purposes necessitates full cooperation of the schools with all agencies in community life, particularly the home, which share responsibility for the welfare and development of children and youth.
