Plainview Schools (PK-12), an independent school district of approximately 1,300 students, takes pride in offering a wide variety of programs to meet the needs of a diverse student population. The Plainview Schools have developed a state-wide reputation for challenging the status quo of education. Academics, fine arts, technology, athletics, as well as access to vocational schools and the Ardmore Higher Education Center have allowed the Plainview Schools to serve as a leader in providing for excellence in education. Plainview Public Schools are noted state wide for academic excellence, scoring consistently in the top five percent in student performance. The schools provide a broad base curriculum in modern, up-to-date facilities linked together through a fiber optic network providing each individual classroom with internet access. Strong parental involvement, with help from the community, allows Plainview to achieve excellence in academics, athletics, and fine arts. Each student has the opportunity to be a part of the total school program. Plainview students are encouraged to be active participants in community activities, academics and fine arts as well as athletics. With an overall student to certified staff ratio of less than 14:1, Plainview students have consistently increased their ACT scores to one of the highest in the state. Plainview Public Schools rank above both the national and state averages with a college bound ACT score of 23.7 and an overall ACT score of 21.6. The secret to Plainview's success has been communication. This is achieved through school newsletters, Parent Pages, the high school video broadcasting classes, internet web pages, email, and frequent parental contacts. The combination of all these elements allows our patrons and parents to stay in close contact with their school family.

Teaching and learning is Plainview Schools’ central mission. Plainview Schools realize for a child to find success, it must be a team effort. The school staff, students, parents/guardians, patrons, and business community work collectively together to assist each child to build a strong academic base for future success in life. Few schools in our state have been able to equal our degree of success. Excellence at Plainview is an everyday occurrence! Plainview Schools strive to provide the optimum learning experience for each of its students. The administrative staff works diligently to recruit and retain the best teachers available. The average years of experience for a Plainview teacher are well above both the state and area average. With the classroom being the core of each child’s learning experience, it is critical to have an experienced well trained instructor in each class. Our outstanding faculty and staff reach out to each child to help them find success by building on each child’s individual strengths. Plainview test scores are consistently among the top in Oklahoma.
