Description
Guthrie, OK is a thriving historical community only 25 miles north of Oklahoma City. Approximately 10,000 people, with several thousand more in the surrounding rural areas, live on tree-shaded streets and frequent nostalgic downtown shops. The city is a surprising combination of small-town atmosphere and cosmopolitan cultural opportunities. As the territorial and first state capital, this National Landmark Community boasts more than 2,000 historic buildings and six museums that serve as living laboratories for the study of state history. A year round professional theater featuring drama and musical performances and numerous art galleries draw visitors from around the world. These cultural opportunities form a backdrop for award-winning school programs in vocal and instrumental music, art and others. District teachers strive to provide more than 3,000 Pre-kindergarten thru 12th grade students with the educational tools necessary for success. Each year students and alumni earn state and national honors and participate in prestigious programs both here and abroad.
