Description
About the Position
We are seeking a highly qualified intervention specialist to play a vital role in supporting the academic and social-emotional needs of middle school students experiencing learning difficulties. The successful candidate will collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized interventions, and participate in the creation and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
Responsibilities:
Conduct individual and small group assessments to identify student strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles.
Develop and implement individualized intervention plans aligned with IEPs and Ohio's Learning Standards, utilizing a variety of research-based instructional strategies and differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
Monitor and analyze student progress, making adjustments to interventions as needed.
Collaborate with general education teachers, special education teachers, and other professionals to develop a cohesive learning experience for students receiving intervention services.
Participate in the development and implementation of IEPs, including: attending IEP meetings, contributing data and recommendations, and collaborating with the IEP team on setting goals and determining appropriate accommodations and modifications.
Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to keep them informed of their child's progress and provide support and strategies for reinforcing learning at home.
Maintain accurate and confidential student records.
Stay up-to-date on current trends and best practices in intervention strategies and special education.
Participate in professional development opportunities to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Learning Disabilities, or a closely related field.
Ohio Intervention Specialist License (or the ability to obtain one).
Minimum of two years of successful experience working with students with learning difficulties in a school setting (preferred).
Strong understanding of learning theories, research-based instructional strategies, and differentiated instruction.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
Strong organizational and data analysis skills.
Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
