Small, rural school system in the western North Carolina Mountains. K-12 student population is approximately 2250.

Our mission is to educate our students to prepare them for life in the information age. We will provide students with educational experiences that insure mastery of academic and life skills, including setting goals and solving problems. Our students will be empowered to become independent life-long learners and responsible citizens in a rapidly changing society. This will be achieved by having high expectations and by providing a caring, safe, and stimulating educational environment through a competent, diverse staff that uses resources wisely while fostering active parent and community involvement.
