Description

Jones County is a rural agricultural southeastern NC county consisting of approximately 474 square miles with a population of over 10,000. It is located within a triangle between historic Kinston and New Bern, and Jacksonville--home of Camp Lejeune. The county is about 30 miles from Emerald Isle and 45 miles from Topsail Beach. There are four distinct communities within Jones County which have their own elementary schools: Comfort, Maysville, Pollocksville and Trenton. Jones Middle School is located within a mile northeast of Trenton and Jones Senior High is located about 3 miles southeast of Trenton, the county seat. The school enrollment in the county is approximately 1,440 students. Jones County's year round climate is mild--winter daytime temperatures usually range from 30-60 degrees while summer daytime temperatures usually vary from 75 to 100 degrees. If there is any snow, it usually occurs in February or March maybe a couple of times a year.
