Chatham County Schools

Chatham County Schools

The school system is governed by a dedicated and committed five-member board of education and consists of 16 schools and one pre kindergarten center. Our population of approximately 7700 students are enrolled in schools ranging from a small elementary school of approximately 225 students to a large high school with more than 1000 students. Small schools epitomize the community schools concept fostered in Chatham County. Approximately 80% of our students enter 9th grade and graduate in four years; this percentage far exceeds the state's average. The majority of these students enroll in a 4-year college, university or 2 year community/technical college.
