Montclair School District

Description

The public schools in Montclair serve approximately 6,000 students and feature a magnet school program for grades K through 8, as well as a comprehensive high school for grades 9-12 that includes a distinctive School of Visual and Performing Arts. Part of the recognized quality of the Montclair Schools is the underlying belief that it is the purpose of public education to develop the creative gifts of each child to their full potential. Our concept of school choice within certain guidelines designed to achieve voluntary desegregation has been designed to achieve this goal. Montclair's true strength is the diversity and richness of the cultural spectrum of its people. This community is sought by individuals who want to raise their families in a true multicultural community of learning in which the public schools are an extension.

Mission Statement

The Montclair School District is dedicated to educational excellence for each and every child. In partnership with parents and the community, the schools will maximize academic and artistic achievement, and develop confident students who are accountable for their ongoing learning, who value initiative and diversity, and who are able to contribute meaningfully to the ever-changing global society.
