Description

The Washoe County School District is located in a growing area located along the eastern slopes of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in western Nevada. The District includes the Reno/Sparks metropolitan area, Incline Village at Lake Tahoe, Gerlach, Empire and Wadsworth. The District operates 61 elementary schools, a special education school, 11 middle schools and 11 comprehensive high schools plus Truckee Meadows Community College High School, Washoe High School (an alternative school), and the Academy of Arts, Careers & Technology. Recreational activities abound, including skiing, fishing, sailing, and hiking, all within minutes of the metropolitan area. Washoe County's climate is mild, with low humidity and rainfall, and we enjoy the full range of the four seasons.
