Description

HIGH SCHOOL ATTENDANCE CLERK DECEMBER 2021

DEPARTMENT/SITE:     Moss Point High School
QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School Diploma
2. Experience with Microsoft Office
3. Strong written and verbal communication skills
4. Strong organizational skills
5. Ability to multitask

REPORTS TO: Principal / Assistant Principals

SUPERVISES: Student workers and students referred to the office

JOB GOAL: To provide students and parents with an attendance procedure that will give a daily account, as well as a monthly summary, of students’ attendance

TYPICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Communicates with parents, students, staff in person, by telephone or letter for the purpose of providing information on a variety of attendance issues and meeting district and state absence notification requirements
2. Ensures the accuracy of attendance records, including verification of forgeries for the purpose of complying with State laws governing attendance accounting
3. Admits late students and maintains records of their tardiness
4. Maintains all incoming statements regarding doctors’ appointments
5. Readmit students after absences, release students to parents after sign out; and process dismissals
6. Compiles and submits a variety of daily, weekly, monthly, and year-end reports as required
7. Makes and receives telephone calls, takes messages and routes calls
8. Enters all student attendance records into a computer on a daily basis
9. Responds to inquiries from students, teachers, and parents regarding attendance rules and absences
10. Works closely with District Truancy Officer and State Attendance Officer on student absentee issues
11. Processes documents and materials (i.e., attendance records, disciplinary and/or suspension notices, etc.) for the purpose of disseminating information to appropriate parties
12. Prepares a variety of reports and written materials (i.e., passes, standardized and special attendance reports for the purpose of conveying information regarding school and/or district activities and procedures
13. Perform other duties as assigned

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 210 days.
Salary for this position shall be commensurate with the years of experience as determined under the policies and procedures of the Moss Point School District and in accordance with the pay scale.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board of Trustees' policy on evaluation of District personnel.
