Restorative Behavior Interventionist Newcastle Elementary School – Newcastle Public Schools
Newcastle Elementary School is currently accepting applications for the position of Restorative Behavior Interventionist. This is a support staff (non-certified, non-exempt) position focused on helping students develop positive behavior and social-emotional skills in a structured and supportive environment.
Position Summary The Restorative Behavior Interventionist supports students who are temporarily removed from the classroom by providing structure, guidance, and restorative interventions that promote personal responsibility and behavioral growth. The goal is to help students successfully re-engage with their learning environments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintain a safe, structured, and respectful environment conducive to learning
Supervise and engage students in educational assignments provided by teachers
Guide students in understanding the impact of their behavior through restorative practices
Promote positive decision-making, emotional regulation, and problem-solving skills
Communicate professionally with school staff, administrators, and parents as needed
Maintain documentation and records related to student behavior and progress
Follow district policies and procedures related to student conduct and discipline
Participate in training sessions or meetings as required
Perform other duties as assigned by the site principal or administrative designee
Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree or higher preferred
Experience working with elementary school students in an educational or behavioral support setting preferred
Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills
Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional when working with students exhibiting challenging behaviors
Must pass a background check in accordance with state law and district policy
Position Details Support staff position (non-certified)
Non-exempt, hourly
Pay and schedule determined by district guidelines and experience
Reports to: Ashley Riley, Principal
