Discovery Academy of Lake Alfred is a 6th-8th grade public charter school that engages students in an enriched innovative curriculum using various teaching strategies with an emphasis on technology. Our school has a Technology focus implementing the Middle School Concepts of Teaming, Common Planning Time, Block Scheduling, and an effective Advisory Program.

Every two years, the Florida Legislature commissions the Florida Price Level Index study to show the cost of living throughout the state. The 2000 study shows that Polk County's cost of living is 4.26% less than the state average.
