About Camden Rockport Elementary School
Camden Rockport Elementary School, nestled in a spacious setting with woods and fields adjacent to the high school, serves approximately 330 students in grades PreK-4 from the towns of Camden and Rockport. CRES is guided by the EL Education Curriculum and Bridges mathematics, and follows the Responsive Classroom philosophy. CRES has a robust system of supports for students, and features the first nature-based public PreK in the state of Maine.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with team members to support students in self-contained programming
- Support assigned students in general and/or special education settings, including the regular classroom, the self-contained classroom, and therapy classrooms
- Support students on the playground, at recess, during lunch, while riding the bus, and during other nonacademic times
- Assist students with activities of daily living such as tying their shoes, hygiene needs, and interacting with others
- Support students experiencing emotional dysregulation by implementing individualized behavior support plans, de-escalation techniques, and safety protocols to help them safely regulate and return to learning.
Qualifications/Skills
- Consistent demonstration of flexibility, patience, and reliability
- Sound decision making as it relates to safety and supporting students of varied age and abilities
- Ability to quickly apply creative and strategic problem solving in the moment
- Ability to build positive relationships with students
- Excellent communication skills
Requirements
- Background check, including fingerprinting
- Maine Department of Education CHRC Approval
Pay and Benefits
- Pay is $190 per day for candidates with a high school diploma. Pay is $215 per day for candidates with a bachelor's degree or higher.
- Earned Paid Leave (1 hour earned for every 40 hours worked)
- Eligible to contribute to a 403(b) retirement plan
- This position may opt in to Maine PERS (Public Employee Retirement System)
