ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Provide instructional leadership and supervision at the direction of the superintendent. Act in the name of and on behalf of the Superintendent in leading the school division when the Superintendent is absent.
REPORTS TO: Division Superintendent
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Hold an advanced degree and postgraduate professional license in administration and supervision.
- Eight (8) years of experience in elementary or secondary school administration, some of which shall have been at the principal level or in senior management within an educational organization.
- Ability to supervise the work of others.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with different content areas and specialist teams across all grade levels (PK-12).
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist the superintendent in providing the instructional and curricular leadership that creates, implements, maintains, and enhances excellence, scholarship, creativity, and achievement for all students.

Provide instructional leadership in collaboration with school administration and other instructional leaders to align curriculum, instruction, and assessment to benefit student outcomes. Coordinates planning, development, and implementation of instructional programs.

Organize professional development in alignment with needs identified through student assessment and the input of teachers and school leadership.

Provide leadership and oversight of federal programs budgeting and spending aligned with student needs.

Acts as a liaison with families, civic agencies, and related community groups.

Collaborates with state and local government agencies and a regional network of instructional leaders.

Ensures the implementation of division policies and procedures and compliance with state and federal mandates.

In the absence of the Superintendent:
- Signs all correspondence, claims, reports and other documents requiring the Superintendent's signature.
- Attends all other business and matters as necessary to ensure the orderly operation of the school division in the absence of the Superintendent.

Attends all School Board meetings and prepares reports or memorandums and makes recommendations as required by the Superintendent.

Assists the Superintendent in providing leadership in developing, achieving and maintaining the best possible educational services and support programs.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The Assistant Superintendent serves at the pleasure of the Superintendent at a salary approved by the School Board.

SALARY RANGE: $115,000-$135,000
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of certificated personnel.
