Pay Scale: $18.08 to $23.18 per hour
Qualifications: a. High school diploma or equivalent b. Valid State of Maine criminal history record check (CHRC) c. Previous experience in food preparation and kitchen operations preferred d. Knowledge of proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures e. Ability to work collaboratively with other kitchen staff and school personnel f. Strong organizational skills and the ability to follow recipes and meal plans g. Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods h. Sanitation and food safety certification or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe Reports to: Head Cook
Essential Functions: a. Efficiently prepare and cook meals according to established menus and recipes, ensuring compliance with portion sizes and nutritional guidelines b. Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including proper storage of food and supplies c. Follow all sanitation and safety procedures, including proper handling and storage of food to prevent contamination d. Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, mixers, and slicers safely and efficiently e. Engage with students to provide an inviting atmosphere and to obtain feedback and input on meals f. Assist in the inventory and ordering of food and kitchen supplies as needed g. Set up serving areas and distribute meals efficiently during designated meal periods h. Adhere to all district policies and state/federal regulations related to school nutrition programs i. Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations j. Monitor and document food temperatures, waste, and meal counts as required k. Communicate effectively with staff, students, and supervisors to address concerns or suggestions l. Maintain confidentiality about all aspects of employees, students, and personnel written and oral records m. Demonstrate respect for the legal and human rights of students and staff
n. Follow health and safety procedures established by the District o. Arrive and depart punctually, notifying appropriate personnel about absences and coverage p. Demonstrate dependability, integrity, and other ethical standards q. Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Head Cook/Food Service Director
