Description

Union Elementary is seeking a dynamic team player to join our small but mighty team as our pre-kindergarten education technician to work alongside our pre-kindergarten classroom teacher.

In this role you will: a) Assist the Pre Kindergarten teacher in creating a developmentally appropriate play based and rigorous program with a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, assist in establishing effective rapport with students and their families, motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed for a solid foundation for elementary school, and establish good relationships with other staff members.

b) Assist in planning and assessing daily classroom activities, communicate effectively with children and adults from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds;  maintain the confidentiality of families, staff and program, assist in establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior that lead to an effective learning atmosphere, assist in providing individualized and small group instruction to meet the academic, functional and developmental needs of each child.  

 

Pay Range: $18.88 to $27.96 per hour

Ability to relate sensitively to a wide variety of people Reports to: Assigned regular education teacher(s), special education case manager and building administrator Job Goal: To assist in the provision of an appropriate and quality education for all students Essential Functions: a. Review and reinforce learning previously introduced by the classroom teacher or appropriate content specialist, or assist in drill or practice activities b. Perform non-instructional, non-evaluative functions c. Assist in the preparation of instructional materials d. Provide classroom management functions e. Introduce new learning preplanned in collaboration with the classroom teacher or appropriate content specialist f. Develop and maintain trust and rapport with students g. Provide direct instructional support to students in the regular and special education setting h. Maintain professional boundaries with highly vulnerable students, both in school and in the community i. Accept direction of lead teacher and work collaboratively with team members j. Demonstrate positive communication with students, staff and parents k. Respectfully advocate for disabled children in the public-school setting l. Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information regarding students and their families m. Maintain a high level of professionalism in following and supporting school district policies, school rules and team standards in all areas n. Inform classroom teacher of any problems or special information about individual students o. Participate in in-service training programs, as assigned p. Carry out assigned duties relating to the supervision of students, such as lunch, playground, study hall, cafeteria, bus loading activities, class trips, and to and from classes and/or other related services programs.

q. Carry out other duties and responsibilities as assigned by classroom teacher and building administrator

Required Supervision: a. Meet with the classroom/program teacher or appropriate content specialist and receive direction on a regular basis, whenever possible on a daily basis; b. Perform short-term instruction in small groups under the direct supervision of the teacher or appropriate content specialist in the classroom; or c. Conduct one-on-one or small group instruction with indirect supervision
