JOB EXPECTATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
| Position Purpose / Description |
- The Teacher is responsible for teaching groups of students in a classroom setting, based on a curriculum and supported by instructional materials. The Teacher is responsible for developing daily lesson plans to ensure that the Teacher covers the curricular content in a timely manner throughout the semester or school year. The Teacher uses various instructional methods and techniques to meet the unique needs of the individual students and to assess their learning; the Teacher modifies instruction, re-teaches and remediates to ensure the students' success.

- Develop, write, and implement compliant Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique learning profile.
- Implement instructional strategies that promote engagement and academic progress.
- Design and deliver differentiated, standards-aligned instruction tailored to individual student needs and IEP goals.
- Convene and lead annual IEP team meetings with parents, guardians, service providers, and school personnel.
- Monitor, record, and report student progress toward IEP goals on a regular basis (e.g., quarterly progress reports).
- Use data-driven practices to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Collect, analyze, and document academic and behavioral data to inform instructional and behavioral decisions.
- Participate in functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and progress monitoring. Maintain accurate records in compliance with district, state, and federal requirements.
- Participate actively in IEP meetings and problem-solving teams.
- Ensure compliance with IDEA, Article 7 and district policies. Maintain confidentiality of student records and information.
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to special education practices
| Additional Duties |
- Serve as a lead and point of contact for the middle school special education team.
- Facilitate team meetings, including case management check-ins and problem-solving sessions.
- Mentor and support special education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers.
- Observe in classrooms and identify Specially Designed Instruction
- Assist with scheduling and PARing IEP meetings.
- Review documentation for accuracy, timeliness, and quality.
- Monitor suspension and expulsion data with school psychologist and school administration
